Blanc confident Ibrahimovic will end goal drought

Laurent Blanc has no concerns over the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic even though his star striker has failed to score for Paris Saint-Germain so far this season.

Ibrahimovic has been PSG s attacking inspiration since arriving from Milan in 2012, leading the club to three successive Ligue 1 titles and scoring 106 goals in 129 appearances in all competitions before the start of this campaign.

The Sweden captain has not scored in four games in 2015-16, though, and missed a glorious chance in PSG s 1-1 draw with Reims on Saturday.

But, speaking on Monday, coach Blanc said: Ibrahimovic is not in the best possible form. He is finding it more difficult to score goals than usual [this season].

It happened last year too, but I think he will recover quickly.

Al-Ittihad appoint Slaven Bilic

Former West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has taken charge of Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.

The Croatian was sacked by the Hammers in November last year following a poor start to the 2017-18 season, which included Europa League qualifying elimination against Romania s Astra Giurgiu.

Bilic joins the two-time AFC Champions League winners on a three-year deal after they lost three of their first four matches of the Saudi Pro League season.

Argentine coach Ramon Diaz presided over their first two games of the campaign before being dismissed, in a move Al-Ittihad insisted was not a knee-jerk reaction .

Welcome to Ittihad Bilic

Rudiger on links to Bayern Munich: It honours you

Antonio Rudiger is honoured by rumoured interest from Bayern Munich, but the defender is focused only on performing well for Chelsea.

The centre-back has become integral for the Blues since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel, with only Cesar Azpilicueta (2,054) playing more Premier League minutes under the German coach.

No Chelsea player has managed a better tackle success rate than the 71.88 per cent posted by Rudiger, who had struggled for minutes towards the end of Frank Lampard s reign.

However, the 28-year-old s long-term future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear. He is out of contract at the end of the campaign, leading to rumours of a move elsewhere on a free transfer.

Bayern have been one of the clubs linked to Rudiger, who spoke about the speculation…

Santa Cruz deserves better than City role – Mancini

(GSM) Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has opened the door for striker Roque Santa Cruz to leave the Eastlands club by admitting the latter deserves to be in a better role than the one he is currently in at the City of Manchester.

The Paraguay international was recently quoted as stating his desire to depart from his City, where he has been restricted to a bench-role.

And having played only once this season, the former Blackburn Rovers star has been given the green light to leave City by his Italian manager.

Mancini said: Roque is a fantastic man and a good player, but he knows the situation here. I am very sorry for him because Roque deserves to play every game because he works very well.

Messi wouldn’t want to work under Mourinho

(GSM) Barcelona star Lionel Messi has doubted the prospects of him working under Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho, who has worked at Barcelona as Sir Bobby Robson s translator and later as Louis van Gaal s assistant, has seen his relationship with the club deteriorate over the years.

The Portuguese tactician first crossed swords with the Catalan club while in charge of Chelsea and he upset fans even further last season after masterminding Internazionale s Champions League success over the club.

Despite being regarded as one of the game s best and most successful managers, Mourinho would be a difficult person to deal with according to Argentina ace Messi.

It would be very difficult, no? he told sports daily Mundo Deportivo when asked if he cou…
