Mexico coach Miguel Herrera has revealed he will offer Carlos Vela the chance to return to the national team for the friendlies in November.
Real Sociedad striker Vela has not played for his country since 2011 and was left out of Herrera s plans for this year s World Cup after refusing to commit to a place in the squad.
After an impressive run to the last 16 in Brazil, Mexico s attentions have already turned to the next World Cup in four years time in Russia.
And Herrera is to give Vela the opportunity to make a comeback in games with the Netherlands – who knocked Herrera s men out in the second round – and Belarus.
I ll make a call [to Vela] to invite him to come to the team, Herrera told ESPN.
If he wants to come, the door is open and if n…

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Manchester City s spectacular transfer window proves he is in for his toughest campaign yet.

Arsenal open the new Premier League campaign on Friday with a home match against 2015-16 champions Leicester City.

Welsh wizard Ryan Giggs was a one-club man, a member of a dying species in world football.
With modern players being compared to nomads, it is becoming more difficult to find a player ready to dedicate his entire playing career to one club, to one cause. Ryan Giggs was that kind of a man, one who invested more than all of his playing days into helping Manchester United achieve the cult status this club is enjoying.
Ryan Giggs has spent the total of 29 years at Manchester United. Having ended his long association with the club as a record holder with 963 appearances and a year left in his contract, Ryan Giggs has left the club with hopes of pursuing a managerial role elsewhere.

Lionel Messi expressed the importance of victory and not the performance after Argentina kicked off their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Ecuador.
Messi was the hero again for Argentina in Buenos Aires on Thursday, converting a 13th-minute penalty in the country s first match since November last year.
Argentina were scheduled to begin their CONMEBOL qualifying campaign for Qatar 2022 in March, but the coronavirus pandemic scuppered those plans.
The South American giants finally returned to action in a lacklustre display and extended their unbeaten streak to eight games, dating back to the 2019 Copa America in July, thanks to superstar captain and six-time Ballon d Or winner Messi.
We knew it was going to be complicated. but the most imp…

QPR manager Neil Warnock has dismissed rumours suggesting he is keen on signing former Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb in January.
Hleb is currently on loan with Wolfsburg from parent club Barcelona until the end of 2011, but the German outfit have no intention of making the deal permanent.
The Belarusian has only figured in a handful of games in the Bundesliga due to a series of injuries, and Hleb has been linked with a move to Loftus Road to regain his fitness and form.
However, Warnock has rubbished any talk about securing the signing of Hleb in the new year.
He told the Sun: I read that one the other day. There’s no truth in it. I would struggle to say his name in the team talk.

Valencia are hot on the trail of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender, according to reports.
The Germany international was an integral part of Robin Dutt s side, which beat the Spanish outfit to earn a place in the Champions League round-of-16, starting every game for Leverkusen in Europe s illustrious club competition.
The purchase of the midfielder is unlikely to come cheap, however, as he has a contract until 2014, and is yet to express his desire to leave the BayArena, but Cadena Ser has reported there is interest from Unai Emery s men.
The 22-year-old, who is the twin brother of Borussia Dortmund s Sven Bender, joined Leverkusen from 1860 Munich for the sum of 2.5 million euros in 2009.

Barcelona spokesman Toni Freixa has called for an end to speculation over Pep Guardiola s future as coach.
Guardiola is out of contract at the end of the season and has requested time to reflect on whether to sign a new one-year deal with the club.
The 41-year-old has helped Barca to win 13 trophies since taking charge at Camp Nou in 2008, and Freixa has said the former Spain international s request for an end to speculation should be respected.
What Guardiola asks for is understandable and he should be allowed to work in peace, Freixa told 8TV.
It is normal for someone who has spent four years at the highest level to need to think about things like this.
Freixa expressed his full confidence in Guardiola and hailed him as the best coach that B…
